Whether it’s work or school, everyone always has something on their mind. It’s important to take a step back once in a while, to regain focus and stay strong mentally and physically. Here are some of my best self-care tips.
Watch Some Movies/TV
Taking some time to just watch hilarious movies and shows can help clear the mind. I know after a long day my favorite thing to do is to get comfy and watch some Netflix shows. If you need some recommendations on what to watch, I’ve got you covered: Schitt’s Creek, Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, New Girl, Stranger Things, The Office (but who hasn’t watched this yet), Parks and Recreation (another classic), and Sherlock.
Read a Book
I know some people aren’t the biggest fans of reading, and think that they only need to read for school-related activities. But for me, reading is one of the best ways to clear my mind. Whether it’s a book or magazine, reading words that are not on a screen can be super calming.
It might seem childish, but drawing and coloring can be amazing ways to alleviate some stress. They now have super-detailed coloring books for adults. This is another perfect way to clear your mind and take some time for yourself. I like to put on some music to fill the background. Pro tip: this is also the perfect time to put on a movie and just get away from your phone for a bit.
Another big piece of self-care is making sure you are taking care of your body. Staying active can help influence the way the brain functions, and can make you feel better mentally and physically. On off days try and get outside or plan a fun day trip with some friends!
Spending your days in the office or classroom can help you professionally, but make sure that you are helping yourself mentally. Stepping away from your phone and work can be hard but it’s sometimes necessary. Plan a day for yourself everyone once in a while; maybe invite some friends and just step away from what’s stressing you out.
Remember how important it is to take care of yourself. Between work and school (along with life in general) make sure you find time to do things you enjoy.
