Some internship fairs can get too hot, too awkward and just all-around exhausting. That is why Indiana INTERNnet is so excited to host another online internship fair! This experience serves as a great way for students to network and learn about so many amazing opportunities out there. Now is a great time to start looking at positions for spring, summer or fall. If you were on the edge about signing up, I have some reasons as to why you should join us for the fair.
How to get started
Make an IndianaINTERN.net account and complete your profile on CareerEco. This profile allows you to upload your resume, add your education background and indicate when you are looking to intern. Setting up your profile beforehand can allow for employers to look at your resume before the fair even begins.
How it works
The fair will take place from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on October 30. Once the fair begins, you’ll be able to see all the employers who are participating in the fair. Make sure you look at the times that the employers are available. If you are interested in one specific company, make sure to note when the best time to talk to them would be. From there you can select what companies you want to talk to, and then start chatting! Throughout the fair you can go in multiple different chat rooms. While in the chat rooms, make sure to introduce yourself and ask questions about the internships that the company offers. Remember to be professional. Even though this is not a face-to-face encounter, you should still be presenting your best self, including what you say in the chat rooms.
This online internship fair is free for students! This is a really great experience, but what makes it so much better is that this tool is completely free for students.
Location and what you need
This fair is different in the sense that you don’t have to travel anywhere. Instead of worrying about parking and the location, all you need is a strong internet connection. You don’t even need to worry about a big fancy portfolio or the high heels. You should, however, make sure you have your resume close by in case an employer wants to know more. Make sure you are in a quiet space in case employers want to voice or video chat, but both of those options are not very common.
The fair also takes place throughout the day, which makes it perfect to stop in chat rooms between classes. Using the online fair means that you are still making great connections without having to spend the whole day out of classes. Just make sure to check the times when the companies you are interested in are available.
With all the employers participating in the fair, there are so many majors and career opportunities being represented. The employers are also located all around Indiana, which means there is something for everyone!
This online fair allows you to get the experience of a real career fair, but without the awkward handshakes and uncomfortable clothes. Now is a perfect time to start planning out your future internships.
