As a student and employee, it’s important to balance work and school. Everyone should make sure their health is a priority. Health is one of those things that we all often overlook until we’re no longer healthy enough to carry out our daily tasks. This is especially annoying when there’s a big test or work event. As basic as it sounds, taking care of yourself by eating properly and working out will ensure you are operating at an optimal level.
Of course, when trying to balance classes, work, an internship, extracurricular activities and possibly a social life, the last thing on most people’s minds is three well-balanced meals and 30 minutes of exercise a day for five days a week. However, shifting your mindset about this is the key here. It’s self-care of the most vital form. How can you expect to kill it every day when you’re being fueled by nuggets, fries, and sodas? You’ll crash and may eventually come down with a cold or the flu.
Make Time to Exercise
Who has the time to try and squeeze in 30 minutes of cardio daily? A great way to get this done is by reading a book you’ve been wanting to finish. Listen to your favorite upbeat playlist while you exercise. Or better yet, why not catch up on your favorite show. Let’s make Netflix and jog a thing. Not only will it do you good physically, but soon enough you’ll start feeling the mental and emotional benefits of exercising.
Eat Actual Food, Your Body Will Thank You.
Eating healthy is something that we as Americans just don’t generally prioritize. In other countries, their first meals put our “breakfast” to shame.
Powering your body and mind will give you the proper nutrients to work long and hard when you need to be at your best. Eating fruits and veggies is great, but adding a multivitamin especially in the cold months will help you when everyone around you is coming down with a cold or the flu. It’s important to note that some of these options can get pricey, quickly. If you can afford non-GMO or organic products, great. However, if you can’t consider checking out your local farmers’ market. You will find affordable produce and other goodies while you boost the local economy, so it’s a win-win all around.
