Summary:

The Human Resources and Organizational Development division serves the staff who serve the visitors of the Museum. Professional Development functions as a department of Human Resources and is responsible for the training and development of all museum staff, volunteers and interns. The development needs of individual staff members are met through a combination of in-house class work, out-sourced vendor training and departmental on the job training. All new staff attend a core base of training classes and then a customized training path is created to fit their position and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

All internships in this department are customized to the current needs of the organization and the department in conjunction with the skills and abilities of the individual.

Intern projects include:

  • Project Manager for the organization’s customer service initiatives.
  • Research relevant content for inclusion in course curriculum Instructional design of course curriculum.
  • Conducting evaluations of training and development quality and effectiveness.
  • Conducting an assessment of future needs.
  • Documenting on-the-job(OJT) training for selected departments Facilitation and presentation opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Must be a sophomore, junior or senior at the university level.
  • Backgrounds in similar or related topics.
  • Requires interpersonal skills for working with staff.
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Should be willing to give presentations or aid training workshops.
