Description

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager,  the Airport Operations Internship will commence in May and will consist of up to 14 weeks of professional introduction into airport operations.   This is an educational position in which the successful candidate will be exposed to Airport Operations.   Duties include,  but are not limited to,  the following:   conduct daily airfield inspections,  participate in minimal ARFF training,  emergency response,  data entry,  various safety &  adminstrative auditing.

Responsibilities

Assists in safety and security inspections during construction including monitoring and escorting contractors and monitoring vehicle and equipment traversing on or about the Airport Operations Area (AOA);  assists trained personnel in emergency response;  assist with airport employee training audits; assists with the airport’s driver training program for both movement and non-movement area driving privileges;  assist with organizing record drawings and specifications;  draft ordinance for GSE equipment.  

Applicant will be asked to submit a testimonial regarding their experience during their internship,  detailing what they learned and how they feel the internship will assist in their future career. 

Qualifications

Working knowledge of FAR Part 77,  139,  TSR 1542 and 150 Airport Series Advisory Circulars.

Ability to communicate effectively with the public,  airport tenants,  tower personnel and other airport personnel in person,  in writing,  by two way radio or by phone.

Ability to be dependable,  attentive to detail and willingness to learn.

Abililty to respond to emergency situations in a calm and controlled manner.

Ability to exercise sound judgment,  make decisions with confidence,  show initiative,  take ownership of assigned projects,  follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to manage recurring duties iwth assigned projects and prioritize workload effectively.

Demonstrated knowledge of effective interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office software at an intermediate level.
