R&D Intern - Cosmetics / Skincare Lab
Description
As an R&D intern, you are a problem solver, innovator and out-of-the-box thinker. You will fail frequently, and will receive criticism regularly. That's what R&D is all about.
You will work together with the head of R&D to identify issues with OR create entirely new (mainly) product formulations, (but also) manufacturing procedures, and ingredients/suppliers. You will then set up scientific experiments with a set protocol to test solutions to the issues one by one. As an R&D intern, you must be creative, flexible, energetic, dedicated, disciplined and - most importantly - scientific in everything you do. You will document your work thoroughly and communicate findings with the head of R&D, and ultimately with the lab team, as you train and help enact new policies and standards based on findings.
Responsibilities
Identify issues
Research
Set up experiments
Carry out experiments
Repeat experiments to verify results
Create new policies/SOPs based on findings
Teach lab team new standards
Qualifications
A completed or in-process education in chemistry or chemical engineering (microbiology also acceptable). The most important qualifications are a (very) healthy dose of curiosity, training in the scientific method, and critical thinking skills. You must also be able to accept critical and frequent feedback. Consistent performance is a must.
