Description

Interns in our Plains Biome work closely with keeper staff to perform husbandry tasks for Addra gazelle, African lion, cheetah, Grant's zebra, greater kudu, Marabou stork, ostrich, reticulated giraffe, warthog and white rhinoceros.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Support the Zoo’s mission of protecting nature and inspiring people to care for nature.

-Assists with cleaning, feeding and general husbandry of assorted animals and plants.

-Assists with maintenance of exhibits, backup areas and food preparation areas.

-Assists with daily inspection of animals and exhibits to forecast potential health or security problems and exhibit needs.

-May assist in the treatment of animals for medical purposes.

-May assist in the collection and transfer of animals.

-Observes and reports equipment and maintenance needs.

-May assist with record keeping, including food and medication sheets, as well as a concise daily log.

-Performs related duties as required.

-May work weekends, holidays, or evenings as needed.

-Assist with keeper chats and demonstrations.
