Description

Under the direction of the ASAP Director, the ASAP Internship position will provide support of the daily activities of the ASAP department. The position participates in the diverse job tasks of the ASAP Team including but not limited to; assisting staff with the operation of curriculum schedules, contacting faculty, assisting students in their academic planning, and mentoring students through their first semester in the program. Conducts all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.  Ninety percent of position responsibilities will be student facing.  Students will spend no more than 25% of their office hour time assisting with clerical tasks.

  • Recruitment
    • Presenting at Zoom information sessions for the program
    • Supplying input for marketing materials
    • Meeting virtually with interested students
  • Program Administration
    • Assist planning of Friday meeting and student activities
    • Respond to questions and requests from students, the general public, faculty, administrators and staff and refers to appropriate personnel as necessary
    • Maintains accuracy and confidentiality of student enrollment records in compliance with College and the Family Educational Rights Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Student Mentoring
    • Assist students in creating time management plans
    • Schedule office hours each week to meet with students
    • Ability to be emotional support for students
    • Check-in with students and their mental health
    • Assist students in creating and managing stress management strategies
    • Assist students in finding the connections they might need through Ivy Tech and their instructors

Qualifications

High School diploma required. Associate degree preferred.  Preferred Majors: Education, Psychology, Counseling, Student Personnel, or other related majors. Must be proficient with File Management, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google drive. Professional experience preferred. Must possess good written and oral communication skills.
