Description

This is a 12-month position working about 20 hours per week. The Career Development Intern will work directly with students on career-related issues that include: supervision of the career closet, facilitating workshops when needed, and assisting the career development team with career-related events. The ideal candidate will commit to at least a full year of work with the Career Center. Junior or Senior students only as Freshmen and Sophomores are not eligible. 

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Maintaining, upkeep, and presentation of items donated to Mastodon the Career Closet
  • Facilitate presentations about the Mastodon Career Closet at campus and community events
  • Represent the Mastodon Career Closet at campus and community events (if needed)
  • Plan and execute special projects collaboratively with the Program Coordinator
  • Develop marketing ideas aimed at target audiences and share with the Program Coordinator
  • Track and compile statistical data and reports
  • Assist students on selection and fit of suitable interview attire
  • Conduct in-person appointments with students (if needed)
  • Conduct virtual appointments (if needed)
  • Develop virtual workshops as needed (if needed)
  • Input documentation into Handshake system
  • Assist office staff with various projects
  • Assist with various programming efforts throughout the year with staff.
  • Handle Walk-in Appointments with student workers (if needed)
  • Attend various staff meetings with the Department and Student Affairs Division

Qualifications

Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Self-starter, willing to take the initiative to complete assignments
Desire to help peers
Talent for creativity and sharing ideas
Experience with, or willingness to develop, presentation skills
Ability to work independently and interdependently with limited supervision on projects
Junior or Senior student (Freshmen and sophomores are not eligible)
