Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:                                    

The mission of Indiana Wish is to grant wishes for Indiana children, ages 3 - 18, with life-threatening illnesses. Over 3,500 wishes have been granted since its inception in 1984. The team comprises four staff, Executive Director, Wish Liaison, Development Director, and Events and Marketing Coordinator. Wishes have been granted in 88 of Indiana's 92 counties.

The Development Intern will work with the Indiana Wish team, specifically the Development Director, to expand the organization's pipeline of donors and supporters and assist with projects.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following functions describe the essential duties of this role.

    • Assistance with data entry into Donor Perfect, Indiana Wish CRM
    • Research potential donors and strategic partners
    • Assistance with reports and presentations
    • Assistance drafting correspondence, proposals, and donor appeals
    • Assist with mailings, filing, and special projects as needed
    • Assist with thank you notes
    • Assistance at any Indiana Wish special event during the internship
    • Marketing/Events projects as needed
    • Assist with Community Fundraising involving third parties
    • Maintain wish family confidentiality at all times.
    • Additional duties throughout the office will be required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION:                               

  • High School Graduate; currently working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree.
  • Preferable university major in not-for-profit management, philanthropic studies, marketing, business, or related fields.
  • Excellent written, organizational, and communication skills are required.
  • Good with online research skills.
  • Able to present yourself professionally.

PREREQUISITE SKILLS:           

  • Enjoy working on the phone.
  • Must have a passion for helping others and the non-profit community.
  • Ability to effectively provide customer service to all donors and contacts.
  • Ability to communicate openly, honestly, directly, and effectively with all staff through written and verbal skills.
  • Understanding/experience with computers, including recent versions of Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and Zoom Meetings.
  • Background Checks will be required and paid for by Indiana Wish.
