Description

The IvyCares (POD 7) Intern provides support services to the South Bend/Elkhart campus of Ivy Tech Community College. There are two locations: one in South Bend and another in Goshen. Applicants must be able to provide services to both locations.

Under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor of Student Success, Director of Disability Support Services, and Department Chair for Human Services, this position will work with Ivy Tech students on an individual basis to help students overcome obstacles that impact academic and personal success. This position will also work closely with community partner agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors to IvyCares- POD7
  • Maintain confidentiality of student interactions
  • Maintain and Document student interactions, resource, and referral plans
  • Maintain report records
  • Maintain the professional appearance, general organization, of workspace and common areas (including the food pantry) of IvyCares-POD 7
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Ivy Tech’s academic and non-academic resources as well as community resources
  • Follow up with Students as necessary

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled as a student in Good Standing at Ivy Tech Community College with a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be an outstanding team player, with excellent customer service skills and possess a professional demeanor.
  • Must be proficient with MicroSoft Office Programs (Excel, Work, Acces, and Powerpoint). Also, experience with other various softward applications is desired
  • Must be self-motivated, outgoing, highly detailed oriented and organized
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential
