SP 21: STEM Galleries Intern
Description
The STEM Galleries Interpretation Intern will assist the STEM Galleries Interpretation team in preparing background materials for programs for the up-coming Mission: Jurassic exhibit. Projects include researching, collecting, and presenting background material on Sauropods and the fossils that the Museum’s Collection Department finds on the paleontology dig in Wyoming during the summer of 2020. Must be able to read scientific articles and share the main ideas in a way that an early elementary student could understand. These background materials will be shared with staff and volunteers working in the Mission: Jurassic exhibit. To better understand programming, the STEM Galleries Intern will be expected to deliver both scripted and informal programming 4-5 hours per week in the ScienceWorks exhibit.
Responsibilities
- Research scientific articles
- Explain scientific articles into laymen’s terms
- Evaluate programs and guest traffic patterns
- Present interpretative program for guests
Qualifications
- Exhibit professional behavior and responsible work ethic.
- Have web researching skills and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must have strong communication and writing skills
- Must demonstrate strong organizational skills
- Must have strong presentation skills
- Majoring in the Sciences, Museum Studies, Elementary Education, Child Development, or other applicable majors
- Have excellent customer service skills.
- Have time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Be able to work and complete tasks independently
