Description

The Business Intelligence intern will be involved with a range of data projects, including data wrangling and cleanup, data governance, analytics and visualizations, general programming, and research. The intern will learn the ins and outs of working with a range of museum departments, exploring varied types of data, and learning business processes. An ideal candidate possesses a strong willingness to learn, is self-motivated, and is well into a program in data science, database design, or a related field of study. The internship culminates in a presentation of the intern’s work to impacted leaders at the museum.

Responsibilities

  • Discuss data usage with museum staff
  • Query and manage databases
  • Data analysis/analytics
  • Help managing a data governance program
  • Assist with data cleaning
  • Perform research in cutting-edge technologies for attractions and fundraising
  • Present research results to decision makers in a straight-forward, easily understandable way

Qualifications

  • Be available 20 hours per week over the course of the internship.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university or higher learning institution.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Be passionate about learning new tools and techniques.
  • Be currently pursuing coursework related to data science or a related field.
  • Possess strong skills in critical thinking and mathematics.
  • Ideally possess some experience with SQL.
  • Have some experience with basic coding principles.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
