Description

The museum has a variety of corporate partners who support the museum’s exhibits, programs, and The Children’s Museum Fund. The Corporate Partnership Team works with representatives from corporate foundations, contributions committees, sponsorship and marketing departments as well as corporations’ agencies of record. The Corporate Development Intern will be responsible for assisting the Corporate Development team with all integral parts of fundraising. This position will provide the selected candidate with a comprehensive experience in sponsorship identification, research, cultivation and fulfillment.

Responsibilities

  • Spend a significant amount of time researching potential corporate partners and cleaning up contact lists to aid the Corporate team in soliciting new business.
  • Assist the Corporate team in on-site partner activations and fundraising events.
  • Benchmark and/or gather samples of other types of corporate partnership communications from other cultural institutions and/or museums. Provide an assessment of how the museum’s corporate collateral pieces or communications could be improved.
  • Produce Corporate Partnership Reports, a comprehensive documentation of sponsor activity used to renew existing sponsors.
  • Shadow Corporate Partnership Team members as appropriate at sponsor meetings and on phone calls.
  • Work with Corporate Partnership Manager to complete one direct mail piece, either with an existing pool of donors or through an expansion of direct mail to prospects.
  • Work with Development and Marketing staff on writing copy for corporate communications (i.e. sales sheets, corporate eNewsletter, etc.)
  • Serve as a member of the Power of Partnership team. The Power of Partnership is an annual event to honor and recognize the museum’s corporate partners, welcome prospective donors, and unveil the future year’s exhibit lineup.

Qualifications

  • Be a Junior/Senior majoring in general business, sales, marketing, sports management or related major
  • Exceptional oral and written skills are critical to this position.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Exhibit good organizational and research skills.
  • Good time management, ability to meet deadlines and multi-task
  • Some nights and weekends may be required
  • Must be able to lift objects and up to 30 pounds of weight, sit, stand or kneel. Agility and dexterity required for extensive navigation of the museum facility.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite
