Description

The StarPoint Summer Camp Operations Intern will design, create and distribute weekly communications for camper families including Monday Reminders and the recap of the camp week through the Friday Newsletters. They will also serve as the camp photographer and lead the team of cabin interns to document camp and develop the end-of-camp celebration slide show.

Responsibilities

Internship Duties

  • Be familiar with the daily camp tasks to help in camp cabins as needed.
  • Serve as a chaperone for StarPoint field trips and museum visits.
  • Serve as point person and assistant for camp contractors and presenters.
  • Compile a folder of the best photos of camp that could be used for marketing, presentations, and grant proposals.
  • Assist in the logistical preparations for the Kids Science Camp.
  • Support the Kids Science Camp that will take place the week after StarPoint Summer Camp by assisting with the lessons, museum visits, and classroom management that will be held for children of employees at a local company.
  • Build a training manual for the internship that will be referenced by future StarPoint Summer Camp Cabin Interns.
  • Observe other departments and museum positions to learn more about the museum’s operations.
  • Assist with other department projects and/or events as needed.

Qualifications

Internship Requirements

  • Have completed at least one year of college.
  • Have experience working with elementary-age children.
  • Have an academic background in marketing, education, museum studies, or a related field.
  • Experience or interest in photography is preferred.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Have good customer service skills.
  • Have excellent organizational and research skills.
  • Have the ability to multi-task.
  • Exhibit professional behavior and a responsible work ethic.
  • Have web researching skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Be available for two full-day training sessions the week before camp.
  • Be available full-time for all of the camp weeks – June 17-July 12, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Be available for StarPoint Open House (after 2nd training day the week before camp) and the end of camp celebration (after the last day of camp).
  • Be available full-time for Kids Science Camp the week after camp
