Description

Sterling Group is a family-owned vertically integrated real estate investment services firm started in 1976. Our organization includes development, construction, property management and investment management with a specialty in multifamily housing and self-storage facilities. Our executives are involved daily and work closely with over 375 colleagues in multiple states throughout the Midwest and Southeast.  We are looking for self-driven professionals with high accountability and integrity.

This intern will work onsite at one of our Construction projects. They will be supervised by one of our Senior Project Managers but will also train with several staff in the Construction department. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and enforce the Sterling safety program to ensure job site safety, encourage safe work practices and rectify job site hazards. 
  • Communicate with the field team daily to review/address progress, quality, issues, and safety. 
  • Attend site-based meetings including daily huddles, weekly subcontractor coordination, monthly OAC, etc.  
  • Maintain the long lead time tracker to ensure submittals and material deliveries do not cause delays. 
  • Assist with the submittal process and review each submittal in detail to ensure they align with project requirements.  
  • Assist with the RFI process to ensure appropriate submission, timely response, and policy adherence. 
  • Oversee and assist with the creation of the Operations and Maintenance Manual.  
  • Communicate lessons learned to Preconstruction and the Executive Team. 
  • Conduct detailed quality control inspections with the field team per policy.  
  • Manage the jobsite logistics plan. 
  • Manage the set up and organization of the job site office/trailer. 
  • Assist with the punch process and coordinate with the Owner to ensure policy is being met.  
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other colleagues.
  • Maintain professional appearance and always conduct yourself professionally.  
  • Maintain the cloud-based filing system per policy. 
  • Distribute plan and specification revisions to all parties in a timely manner per policy. 
  • Perform all other job-related duties as needed and/or as assigned by the Project Manager. 
  • Hours ae designated by your supervisor and determined by the needs of the project.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
